The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of portraits of the people who have made or are currently contributing to British history and culture; the Collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. With around 2 million visitors each year and a strong national and international presence through touring exhibitions and special projects, the Gallery is one of the country’s most important and popular galleries.
£27,000 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and committed Marketing Manager to join the Gallery’s Communications & Development team. Reporting to the Head of Communications, the successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to the Gallery’s overall marketing plans and strategies. Leading a small but busy team, the post holder will be responsible for delivering the full range of marketing activities, including managing all aspects of campaigns for exhibitions and ensuring that the expansive potential of the Gallery’s Collection and activities is fully realised at all times.
The successful candidate will be a creative thinker with substantial experience of working in an arts marketing department or similar environment, managing a wide range of marketing activities and promotions. A proven track record of developing and delivering effective strategies as well as creating, implementing and monitoring marketing campaigns is essential, along with previous experience of digital communications and print design and production. The post holder must have exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage workload independently. Having a strong commercial acumen and customer-let mindset with the ability to forge and maintain effective business relationships at all levels is also vital to this role.
