Project Manager: Core IT (PM, IT Project Manager)

Main Purpose of the Job
• To plan, and manage the delivery of a single project or portfolio of projects within IT area to agreed scope, time, quality and budget.

Key Accountabilities of the Project Manager: Core IT (PM, IT Project Manager):

• Project planning to achieve business and IT dependencies
• Budgetary planning and management to agreed IT budget and business case
• Scope leadership and direction
• Timely project reporting in line with River Island IT processes and standards
• Effective management of risks, issues and dependencies in collaboration with IT colleagues
• Project team leadership and coaching
• Stakeholder management
• Third party delivery and contract management

Key Responsibilities of the Project Manager: Core IT (PM, IT Project Manager):

• Work with the business stakeholders/ director(s) of the functional areas allocated, the Head of Core IT, Programme manager and PMO, to set and agree the project objectives and deliverables to meet the functional and non–functional requirements.
• Produce project justification and initiation documentation (PID)
• Work with the Solution Architects, Business analysts and other project stakeholders to draft and agree business cases, requirements document and solutions design
• Calculate, agree, get approval for and manage project budgets
• Work with the Solutions Architecture, Commercial, and Technical teams to implement projects that balance the needs of the business with commercial and technical considerations
• Identify and implement the most appropriate delivery methodology for the project
• Create, consult and agree project plans with all the relevant stakeholders
• Monitor and update project plans regularly, managing all project activities, scheduling, resources, and dependencies
• Collate, analyse and manage outputs from project meetings, checkpoint reports, project risk and issue logs, budgets and change control process
• Manage project risks, issues, budgets and change processes (agreeing scope with the project/ steering board, analysing the impact of the change, and agreeing and taking appropriate action)
• Optimise project delivery by continually looking for and evaluating improvements to the project plan and then agreeing with the project/ steering board and project teams the implementation of these improvements.
• Attend daily stand ups/ project/ programme meetings, finance reviews and project/ steering boards, representing own project wherever required.
• Complete team project performance reviews at the end of each project and at each corporate performance review period
• Follow agreed standards and processes for project reporting and controls
• Contribute to continuous improvement of IT processes, documentation standards and methods
• Collaborate positively with IT colleagues within the matrix structure
• Play a supportive role within the IT team, sharing knowledge and insights to support delivery of business value

Key Relationship

Reporting Line: Programme manager/ Head of IT Delivery

Matrix team of project resource including business analysis, development teams, architecture and infrastructure resource

Qualifications, Experience and Skills required for the Project Manager: Core IT (PM, IT Project Manager)

• Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent professional qualification
• Minimum 5 years of previous related work experience
• Evidence of having undergone project management training
• Ability to plan and manage budgets
• Background in retail IT or IT related retail business activity
• Ability to demonstrate successful stakeholder management and effective communication skills
• Has worked in a fashion retail environment
• Experience with multiple retail business and customer channels

• Waterfall and Agile Methodology experience
• Familiarity with one or more retail channel applications or systems
• Understanding of cloud computing and its role in corporate IT
