In this role you will be responsible for assessing whether the risk management framework being developed for Customer Service and Central Operations in the New Bank is aligned with the requirements of the Bank’s Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework.
You will have responsibility for assessing the Risk Management Framework being implemented for the New Bank, identifying and escalating gaps and weaknesses where appropriate.
Your role responsibilities will include:
Assessing whether the risk management framework being developed for Operations in the New Bank is aligned with the requirements of the Bank’s Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework.
Reviewing the new business processes developed as part of the New Bank Programme, ensuring the material risks have been identified, appropriately documented and assessed and an appropriate suite of controls has been designed and documented.
Assessing whether the impact of the new business processes on existing risks, controls, events and issues has been appropriately considered.
Delivering the New Bank outcome testing and key control testing scripts, ensuring these are fit for purpose.
Responsibility for providing training and support to other teams within the Risk & Controls area to ensure appropriate understanding of New Bank processes, risks and controls.
Collaborating with the New Bank team to ensure there is appropriate visibility and governance around material risks which will not be mitigated within risk appetite ahead of New Bank go–live.
Collaborating with the relevant business areas to develop and agree action plans to address gaps and weaknesses, escalating these where appropriate.
Providing input to the regular and ad hoc risk reports on progress and material gaps/weaknesses identified.
Developing strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, ensuring collaboration to achieve business objectives.
Your skills, knowledge and experience:
To operate at the specified level of seniority and fulfil expectations across the full range of technical areas, you will need a holistic understanding of the environment in which the Bank operates (economic, banking industry, regulatory, and organisational). You must be able to challenge colleagues in a collaborative and constructive manner, have the courage to pose questions to ensure the right, fact based decisions are always made, and be able to represent/understand the perspective of all internal and external stakeholders.
In addition, the following experience and skills are required:–
Strong awareness of the control environment within a financial services organisation.
Strong awareness and understanding of all relevant risk functions across the Bank (e.g Conduct, Regulatory, Operational, Credit Risk).
Strong relationship management and influencing skills.
Proven relationship manager across teams and in a matrix management organisation.
Sound understanding of the Financial Services regulations, and the Banking industry in general.
Procedural /specialist knowledge / Risk Management.
Strong analytical skills.
Prepared to challenge and to manage conflict, at senior levels internally and externally.
