This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced Test Manager to come and work on our BAU change portfolio. In this role you will plan, lead and deliver the test components of delivery projects and cover all phases of the testing lifecycle for financial software applications across our product suite. You will work extensively with 3rd parties and help shape the way in which we engage with our 3rd party providers throughout the testing lifecycle.

Your role responsibilities will include:

Accountability for the end to end delivery of test components for a project, through the effective management and development of staff within a multi–disciplined project team ensuring staff well motivated, utilising acquired skills and working at optimum level.

Accountability for the creation of the Test Strategy and associated Test Documentation for each project, covering the required Sainsbury’s test phases.

Accountability for liaising with the Environment Test Manager to ensure the correct environment and configuration is in place at the right time

Responsibility for resource planning and skill requirements for effective delivery of testing components of projects, using both internal and external resourcing options.

Planning the Test resource profile to ensure successful delivery and identify any resourcing deficiencies or issues.

Defining and owning testing component project plans, fully understand all project and testing assumptions, dependencies and associated risks.

Monitoring performance against project plans to ensure effective delivery of testing components of IT projects within budget and to agreed timescales taking ownership to resolve all issues. Controlling project spend, identifying and reporting variances against agreed budget and re–forecasting where necessary. Keeping metrics on testing progress.

Identifying, managing and recording risks and issues across the full testing life cycle.

Producing daily and weekly progress reporting including execution and defect management for Programme Steering Review

Engagement and stakeholder management of the key IT, 3rd Party and business stakeholders.

Undertaking the oversight of 3rd party functional testing.

Identifying and agreeing with the Delivery Programme Manager/Director appropriate Testing solutions and tools to meet business requirements or improve effectiveness, profitability, and/or reliability, automating and maintaining regression test scripts.

Your skills, knowledge and experience:

Test qualification (ISTB) desirable at Advanced level and must have Foundation level.

Oversight experience and management of 3rd parties.

A comprehensive understanding of Risk methodology and previous experience of effectively managing risks and issues against a documented Risk Appetite.

Experience of working on large scale complex test programmes.

Previous experience of managing teams of more than 10 including flexible resource uplifts.

Experience of managing multiple work streams.

Strong relationship management skills with business and 3rd parties.

Demonstrates core Sainsbury’s Bank values and behaviours.

Experience in the financial services industry.

Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure and to agreed budget.

Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent team player with ability to work closely with others to deliver results.

Customer focused.

Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.

Demonstrate an ability to think and reason logically.

Excellent written communication – business and project reports.

Exceptional communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment, e.g. able to translate complex / technical issues to meet the audience’s competency level.
